Detroit’s Culinary Scene Teams Up To Benefit Freedom House

Chefs from around Detroit are donating time and food to raise money for this refugee-focused charity.

On March 25, chefs from around the city will donate their time and dishes to benefit Detroit’s Freedom House at Trinosophes. Since 1983, Freedom House Detroit is the only organization in the United States providing shelter, legal services and comprehensive social services, at no charge, and all under one roof for asylum seekers–refugees from around the world who are fleeing violence and persecution due to their political beliefs, religious affiliation, nationality, race or sexual orientation.

Chefs from restaurants involved include Sister Pie, Detroit Mushroom Factory, Brooklyn Street Local, Sarah Welch (formerly of Republic), Supino Pizzeria, Coriander Kitchen & Farm and more.

We talked with Freedom House program manager Thomas Rogers and Trinosophes’ chef Allison Heeres to find out more.
